In the wake of the Livestrong scandal, I must admit that I’m
feeling a bit cheated myself. It’s hard
to comprehend the Jeckll and Hyde actions of man who was so inspirational and
created so much for the Livestrong Foundation under the guise of a survivor who
overcame cancer solely through hard work and training.
That said, I’m still a supporter. Not of Lance, but of an organization that
continues to support survivors.
Livestrong serves a legitimate purpose.
It did not lie. And it is made up
of countless volunteers who offer services that serve a population of survivors
that was previously underserved.
It will be interesting to see if a re-branding occurs or how
the nonprofit mission saves its good name.
I for one will mentally try to separate the man from the mission
understanding that my support of Livestrong is primarily a show of solidarity
for all of the survivors out there who will continue to benefit from the
services.
I teach a class yoga class next week supported by Livestrong. My bracelet will be off but my heart is still in it. Your thoughts?
I agree 100%...we simply can not "throw the baby out with the bath water"! The foundation has helped over 2.5 million survivors AND their families with the FREE cancer navigation services. Over $500 million raised. Right now, I personally k

Another gal I heard in an interview will now have her eggs harvested before chemo causes sterilizes her. The foundation has stepped up--a mere $25,000. Cycling has nothing to do with the good work of this foundation. I'm still a believer!
